Castina Maria Buchanan

Castina Maria Buchanan was born on 16 October 1876 in Glenwood, Sevier, Utah, and died on 8 August 1944 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah. She is the daughter of Archibald Waller Overton Buchanan and Anne Maria Larsen. She married Newel Knight Young on 13 Jul 1898 in the Manti Temple, Sanpete County, Utah. He was born on 21 August 1877 in Orderville, Kane, Utah, and died on 15 August 1956 in Long Beach, Los Angeles, California, USA. He is the son of John Ray Young and Lydia Knight.
Castina Maria Buchanan married Newel Knight Young in Manti in July 1898 and their first child, June Vilate was born in Glenwood, Utah on June 15, 1899. After a year of teaching school at Lyman, Utah, Newel returned to his former home in Mexico in the late summer of 1899 to take another teaching position. As soon as her child was old enough to travel, Tina joined her husband in Mexico. She gave birth to her second child, a son, Newel Knight in Colonia Dublan on 17 November 1901. They moved to Colonia Pacheco in Fall 1902 where he taught school. Their daughters Maria, Vernessa and Myrl were born in Colonia Pacheco in 1903, 1905 and 1907, respectively. The family then moved to Morelos (in Sonora, across the Sierra Madre Occidental Mountains) in December 1908 where their son, Wayne Buchanan Young was born in 1909. The family suffered in the Mexican Revolution and returned to the United States in 1911.
